Do I need to have a wedding makeup trial?

Having a wedding trial for either hair or makeup is entirely up to you. A trial will give you the chance to have in-depth conversations with me about your requirements for your wedding day (over a coffee or a glass of bubbly!), while also actually doing a trial run of your makeup and/or hairstyle.

How you envisage your look, your skincare needs, and your bridesmaid's makeup/hair style are typical topics that will be discussed. So while it's not 100% necessary to have a trial, it's definitely recommended and a good idea to ensure there are no surprises on your wedding day!

What kind of prep do I need to do pre-wedding day?

Looking after your skin is probably the most important thing you could do to ensure your wedding or event makeup sits right and melds seamlessly on your skin. A good skincare regime (maintenance of hydration and regular exfoliation) can also ensure your makeup wears longer. It’s probably not advisable to start any new skincare, less than 6 months before the big day, but do consult a skincare expert or dermatologist to address any skin concerns you have.

I'm not a dermatologist or skincare specialist but I do know some trade tricks to try that help mitigate the look of skin concerns... but of course this can only do so much! Severe concerns like bad skin texture, acne or severe dehydration should be taken care of well in advance by an expert in skin or nutritionist.

Looking after the health of your hair is also important. Signs of healthy hair include bounce, shine and volume. If you have hair that is dry, breaking or thinning out, it is best to address these concerns earlier rather than later (through nutrition, treatments and consultations with your hair dresser), as unhealthy hair will limit the number of hairstyles that can be achieved by any hair stylist.

How do you want me to have my face & hair on event day / trial?

Makeup - Please come with a clean, makeup free face.

Hair - Please come with clean and dry hair (rough blow dry with a hair dryer is fine, but please do not pre-style with a hair straightener or curling tongs). If you’re going to have blow wave hair style, coming along with damp hair is fine (about 70-80% dry).

If you’re going to wear any hair accessories (flowers, veil, combs, clips etc), please also bring those along.

What products do you use?

I use a myriad of makeup and hair product brands, all of which are tested by me and trusted to ensure longevity and suitability in helping me create the natural, modern, luminous and alluring style that I am known for. I can’t list all the brands I use (as I’m forever testing and editing my pro kit), but my favourite brands include:

Makeup brands: MAC, Charlotte Tilbury, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Bobbi Brown, Becca, Nars, Urban Decay, Hourglass, Modelrock lashes, Mecca Cosmetics & Maybelline

Hair tools & hair product brands: GHD, Kevin Murphy, Ouai, R&Co, and L’oreal.

I don’t need my makeup done but can you put lashes on me?

Lash application alone is $20 and will take 10-15 minutes as I take a customised approach to applying lashes and like to ensure the whole eye look is fully polished. For example, this may mean tidying up any makeup that you have already applied, filling in the lash line with some extra eyeliner or tidying up your brows.

Alternatively, I also offer lash extensions and lash lift services. Check out the service list here for more details

What are your travel fees?

Please be mindful that an additional travel fee may apply if travel to the preparation location is more than 20km (one way) from my makeup studio in Ermington NSW. This usually starts from $40.

It is implied that parking will be provided at the location in which I (and my team if applicable) will be travelling to. In circumstances where this is not the case, the client will be required to cover any parking fees incurred while makeup/and hair services are being provided. For example, parking meter fees, hotel parking fare etc.

If travel is required interstate or overseas, please indicate this in the contact form and I can propose a travel plan and the indicative fee required to service your makeup/hair request.
